Value Addition to Fruits & Vegetables - In India the food processing is divided into organized and unorganized sectors. The food processing industry depends upon the agricultural production for supply of raw material. In Mirzapur, there is an abundance of resources available such as fruits and vegetables but they are sold at low rates due to its perishable nature, hence, value addition is answer to this problem. Value addition will not only give the time to perishable raw materials but also increase the value to it. The processed goods can be sent to appropriate market for sale. This will increase the income level of the families in the area. Multimedia contents developed under Gramin Gyan Kendra (GGK), IT-BHU, Varanasi would also be displayed to the beneficiaries. These multimedia contents are duly certified by the experts of the relevant field.

Methodology - Information is being provided to local women / SHGs through Multimedia content, Lab exercise during capacity building and Experts interaction. DIC and BHU have jointly developed multimedia content on Food preservation certified by C.S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur.
