
Project Description
Mirzapur is a district in Uttar Pradesh, India, roughly 650 km from both Delhi and Kolkata, almost 87 kms from Allahabad and 67 kms from Varanasi. It has a population of 2,496,970 of which male and female were 1,312,302 and 1,184,668 respectively (census2011). Majhawan Cluster is located around 25 kms from District Head Quarter. Around 25% of the Majhawan populace is SC / ST. The area has around 1300 Self Help Groups (SHGs) involved in Zari, Carpet / Dari, Saree work. Work Pattern in area also include farming and animal husbandry. The project "Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Interventions for Livelihood Enhancement & Development through Women SHGs" is an initiative to provide ICT based solutions for development and livelihood & knowledge enhancement in Majhawan block. A Resource Center (ICTRC) with requisite hardware & software has been setup in the block for the purpose. The overall objective is:
- Capacity building on:
- Digital designing using Chic™ - CAD tool for crafts
- Food processing / preservation (value addition to fruits and vegetables), dairy development and kitchen gardening using multimedia content
- Resource planning using Inventory / Stock Management and connecting SHGs with the market including e-Commerce and digital marketing
- Awareness building on basic health, hygiene and social issues through multimedia content on handheld device
