Digital India Corporation

Digital India Corporation (DIC) is a not for profit company setup by Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Govt. of India with the objective to bring the benefits of Information & Communication Technologies (ICTs) and other technologies for socio-economic uplift at the grass root level of the society. The ‘Board of Directors’ of the company is Chaired by Hon’ble Minister of Electronics & IT.

DIC, over a period of more than 15 years, has worked on several projects / ideas in its focused areas of ICT in ‘Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs)’, ‘Healthcare’, ‘Livelihood Enhancement (Agriculture & MSME sectors)’ & ‘Education’ and in the process has touched the lives of more than 1.5 million people directly and more than 3.0 million people indirectly. In this endeavour, the company collaborates with a number of organizations from Government, NGO Sector, Academia, Industry and other experts.

DIC focuses on ‘Lab to Land’ and ‘early harvest’ projects useful for the masses. It has achieved reasonable success in its efforts in understanding the needs of the field, role of ICT for grassroots applications through conceptualization, projects preparation, development & deployment of technologies, products & services.

The major current projects being implemented by DIC are as follows:

• Interactive Information Dissemination System (IIDS): IIDS is an agro advisory system encompassing smart phone application, interactive portal & IVRS. Data is transmitted through voice, text, images and videos from both ends (farmers to expert and back). It has been implemented in states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana & Meghalaya benefitting more than 45,000 farmers.

• Punarjjani™: It is a web based tool to assist special teachers in assessment of children with mental retardation (MR). Teachers from around 500 special schools across the country have been trained & provided access to tool.

• Chic™ CAD: It is a tool for artisans to make 2D designs (like Embroidery, Chikankari, Painting work etc). It has been implemented in the states of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh & West Bengal. More than 2000 artisans have been trained.

• Sehat saathi™: It is a telemedicine system. Ophthalmology module of the system has been implemented in states of Haryana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand & Uttar Pradesh benefitting more than 6000 rural patients.

• ‘Punarbhava™’: It is a web portal to disseminate information related to disability field. The portal is regularly updated and is receiving around 8000 daily hits



The Sai Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) is an initiative of Yuva Gramya Vikas Samiti (YGVS) registered under Societies Registration Act 21, 1860 and Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 1976 with a view to take care of interests and overall development of rural populace in India.

The inception of Sai Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) derives spirit from Gandhi ji’s ardent advocacy of village reconstruction. Gandhi Ji, in one of his daily thoughts said “Just as the whole universe is contained in the self so is India contained in the villages”. To serve the India therefore, was according to him to serve the villages

The Sai Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) has been founded by a strong team of professionals who have sufficient exposure in the public domain as well academics, social work and private sector at the higher echelons with a commitment to translate their knowledge and expertise in to endeavor to accelerate the pace of rural development.
